Aero Sharp

Aero Sharp was a transformer solar inverter company in Ontario, Canada. It’s serving the residential and commercial markets both on a local and international scale (this included Australia). The company was actually Chinese-owned as it was part of China AVIC Avionics Equipment Co. Ltd (now China Avionics Systems Co. Ltd). But it doesn’t appear to be operating at the moment. It specializes in the manufacturing of grid solar inverters with power ranging from 1 kW, 1.5 kW, 2 kW, and 3 kW.

These solar inverters have a warranty for 5 years. The later models came with a 10-year warranty. Shortly before the company went into liquidation presumably on 12 October 2013. This is due to a large number of warranty claims on the Aero Sharp inverter product for a slow startup times, involuntary system shutdowns, unit not powering up, and other technical issues.

Inverter Recall

Unfortunately with the manufacturer of Aero-Sharp inverters being in liquidation. This has left an untold number of their solar power customers with no warranties for the inverters that they install. So it seems like the Aero-Sharp inverters are a problem waiting to happen. There is a company in Brisbane that repairs Aero Sharp inverter problems. But obviously, this is at a cost as the following steps will needs attention:

1. You need to pay to have a licensed electrician remove the faulty inverter.
2. The problem Aero-Sharp inverter will need to deliver to the Brisbane company.
3. You will need to pay for the inverter.
4. The inverter will need to be sent back to you.
5. You will need to have a valid electrician re-install your to repair the Aero-Sharp inverter.

With all the above costs I would not expect any change from $500. Then you still have the Aero-Sharp inverter with no warranty – just hold your breath until the next fault develops!

The best solution is to replace the problem inverter with a new, quality unit complete with a full 5 or 10-year warranty.

Product Features

  • Suitable for both outdoor and indoor installation.
  • Stainless seal with steel enclosure design and certify for IP65 protection level.
  • Plug-in connection for all DC input, AC output, and communication cables, very easy field wiring.
  • Independent MPPT channels for PV module strings of different characteristics to maximize the yields of a system.
  • Isolation transformer between the inverter electronics and the utility grid for safety and reliability yet maintains very high conversion efficiency.
  • Proper power size and input voltage range for each input MPPT channel. It has very easy system integration with a single string for each MPPT channel.
  • Transient voltage suppressor at both input and output terminals to protect the inverter from transient high voltages by lightning or other sources.
